The Stone Column Plate Load Test included the installation of 12 stone columns and a resisting structure composed of 2 tubular piles and a beam running across the 2 piles. A column, a 3m x 3m plate and hydraulic cylinders were used to apply a force to the stone column area. By measuring the settlement of the treated ground under the applied force, the Young’s Modulus was determined to confirm the design requirements. The work was completed off a crane barge.
The settlement of the plate into the seabed was measured by the relative displacement of the central column to reference piles with 4 displacement sensors.
